Clare Provoncha

My name is Clare Provoncha, I am 18 years old, and I am a senior at Walsingham Academy. I have played 3 years of Varsity Volleyball and Soccer, have been in lead roles in musicals, and I am the Drum Section Leader of the Colonial Williamsburg Senior Fifes and Drums Corps. I am a member of both the National Honor Society and International Thespian Society.

My journey actually starts with my great-grandfathers, for they both served in the Great War. Decades later, my grandfathers served with in the Air Force during the Korean War. My father, André Provoncha served in the Air Force for 22 years as a B-52 navigator. Then there is me. I have always loved aviation and have always wanted to be a pilot.

Without WASP, I could not have made this dream come true. My first flight was in January of 2017 from that moment I knew that was my purpose in life. I have about 30 hours towards my private license and I could not be more grateful to WASP, my flight instructor David Otey III, Shawn Stewart, Tim McSwain, and Jay Pearsal. I will major in National Security and Foreign Affairs at Virginia Tech while being an Air Force ROTC cadet in their Corps of Cadets. After those four years, I will commission into the Air Force and I will serve by flying anything from the F-22 to the B-52.
